Cosmetic Whimsical Heart Wedding Invitations

Back in December, we showed you a Garden Party order all wrapped up & ready to send. Today we thought we’d show you a recent whimsical heart order just before it left us!

Marisa & Leighton are marrying in April & chose the whimsical heart design for their wedding stationery. Their day invitations were laser cut folded silk cards, finished inside with a cosmetic coloured inlay & their evening invitations were printed with the whimsical heart design on to silk card in cosmetic & black ink. Their invitations were then finished with hand calligraphy.

We love blush tones at the moment & thought this order really encapsulated the best elements of laser cutting, printing & hand written calligraphy. Here are a few quick snaps..

Amy & Sean

We first met Amy last November at the Save the Date show. She’d already found us online but took the opportunity to come & chat with us in person at the show. Amy saw the Vintage Garden Party invitation & (in her own words) fell in love with it!

She chose to have laser cut invitations with a manilla inlay & ivory ribbon. She had matching manilla place tags, name cards & table plan cards. Everything was finished with calligraphy for the perfect final touch.

Amy & Sean married in June this year, afterwards their talented photographer Lucy Stendall shared some photographs with us!

Congratulations again Mr & Mrs Barber! We hope married life is treating you both wonderfully!

Ps. You can get in touch with Lucy Stendall via her website.

Calligraphy: a perfect finishing touch

I really love calligraphy.

I think this is in part because I’m a Janeite & the beautiful curly script makes me think of a time when writing with a nib & an inkwell was the only way to write at all.

Whenever I see an address beautifully written in calligraphy it makes me think that it should be presented to it’s recipient on a silver platter by a butler wearing white gloves. Sadly, nowadays most of us don’t have butlers & it’s not really practical to send all our correspondence written in calligraphy.

I do think it’s perfect for special occasions though. It adds a really special touch to envelopes, invitations, place cards & favour tags.

We offer a calligraphy service here at Hummingbird. We can add names or address to any of your stationery items for small extra charge. For more information get in touch with us in the studio on 01530 411905 or email us at info@hummingbirdcards.co.uk

Baby Shower Invitations

Although wedding stationery is what we’re really passionate about here at Hummingbird we also love to make other social stationery. Recently we made some beautiful baby shower invitations which I thought would be perfect to share here on the blog.

They featured a vintage pram design,  printed on textured ivory card in a cornflower blue font.

As a perfect finishing touch all of the guests names were written in elegant calligraphy.

We’re always happy to create stationery for other social occasions or events. Just give us a call in the studio on 01530 411905 or drop us an email to info@hummingbirdcards.co.uk.

Caramel & Cream

Just had to share this lovely mood board with you from the fabulous Snippet & Ink (they always put together the most beautiful mood boards!)

After seeing all the beautiful manila stationery from Sally-Ann’s  wedding, (we will be sharing some pictures from the big day very soon!) we thought this Caramel & Cream collection compliments the theme perfectly.

The power of ink

The Power of Ink

Here at The Hummingbird Card Company we are delighted to be asked by countless couples to embellish their invitations and stationery with calligraphic details and we offer a range of options featuring this exquisite art – all produced by ourselves in the studio, which we are quite proud of!

Calligraphy is a beautiful form of handwriting that many couples like to feature on their wedding stationery, adding a delicate, refined and more traditional touch. The word in itself reads beautifully, apt indeed as it originates from the Greek terms Kallos (meaning beautiful) and Graphe (meaning writing) – hence beautiful writing.

From favour tags and place cards through to invitations and matching envelopes, we will happily get the ink out! Prices range from just 75p for place cards and £1.00 for favour tags (each) through to £3.45 for invitations (each). Calligraphic elements can be created from as little as 65p per name/word though to £1.20 for three names.

If you are as bowled over as us with the intricacy of the letters, then drop us a line on 01530 411 905 or have a look at our website.
