Hummingbird Cards Festive Baking

19th December 2014

So we’ve been busy baking at Hummingbird Cards!! For our last posting of the year we just wanted to share with you our mini master pieces – don’t tell Mary & Paul! Last year we shared with you our festive ginger bread houses & this year we’ve continued the tradition with the epitome of  Christmas, a good old fashioned Christmas cake. Claire created a Scandinavian delight! The attention to detail was exquisite & the icing can only have been described as ‘candilicious’! Amazing candy cane swirls, twisted & wrapped around with oh so cute ginger bread men. I went for a winter…

This may appear to be an odd blog posting.. but this made our day in the studio! We always love hearing from our customers but when they take the time to buy a card & write such lovely words it really does mean so much. Christine & Nick sent us such a wonderful thank you that we can’t help but share it.. “To Sally-Ann, Emily and all of the Hummingbird team, What can we say? Just wow! Hummingbird’s Macmillan tea party

9th October 2012

In traditional Hummingbird style we got out the vintage crockery, english breakfast tea & a whole table of scrumptious goodies to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. We’re really pleased to be able to let you know that together we raised a total of £324.40 for Macmillan. The work Macmillan Cancer Support do is incredibly valuable to the families they support & we loved being able to help them out in a small way. Thank you to everyone who popped in & gave their support in return for a cup of tea & a slice of cake! We’re also pleased to be able…

Hash tag your wedding!

16th August 2012

The other day I was having a cup of tea with a spot of pinning (we’re a tiny bit pinterest obsessed here in the Hummingbird studio!) when I came across this image. I love this idea so much! If you’re an instagram fanatic like I am & your friends or family members use it too then this is a really great way to be able to see people’s pictures of your wedding day without having to scroll back through everyone’s individual feeds. You could easily apply this to twitter as a whole too so you can see people’s tweets about the…

Paper & treasures

26th June 2012

A couple of weeks ago I popped down to Brighton & thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Artists Open House‘ weekend! It was wonderful to see so many people of all ages & back grounds creating unique art & also popping into their homes to get glimpse into where the magic happens. OK, so its a little nosy, but some artists homes were just as inspirational as their art! So we love all things paper here in the studio & I fell in love with Jo Cole’s paper sculptures made from old vintage romantic novels! Something different to paper cutting. Here’s one of her mushrooms that I…

Tea cup treasures!

20th March 2012

I  read an article recently that sounded just like me.. in fact I’m sure I’ve said almost the same thing after a visit to one of the many auctions, antique markets or car boots that I’ve trawled hunting for a treasured hand painted teacup and saucer ! Yasmin le Bon was quoted as saying.. ‘NOTHING GIVES ME MORE JOY.. than finding a beautiful hand-painted teacup and saucer.  My husband Simon is obsessed with making traditional tea, and I like having tea parties with lots of different cups.’ After collecting some beautiful bone china tea cups for our vintage style wedding I…
